A leading private healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Unit Manager: Oncology to drive clinical excellence, strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration, and ensure the delivery of safe, evidence‑based patient care within a specialised oncology environment.
Role Purpose
The Unit Manager leads the coordination of high‑quality nursing care, ensuring adherence to professional, ethical, and legislative standards. The role oversees service delivery within a multidisciplinary quality assurance framework and is accountable for capacity building, mentoring, staff development, and continuous improvement across the oncology unit.
Key Role Requirements
- Lead safe, cost‑effective, evidence‑based oncology nursing care aligned to clinical governance
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, risk mitigation, and compliance with policies, protocols, and legislation
- Manage financial performance, including acuity‑based staffing, cost control, billing accuracy, and stock management
- Ensure effective incident management, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety standards
- Strengthen patient experience, clinical outcomes, and infection prevention practices
- Build a high‑performing nursing team through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and professional development
- Foster strong relationships with doctors, multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Support transformation objectives and promote a positive, inclusive working environment
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Nurse (SANC) with a Diploma in General Nursing / BCur / NQF 7 equivalent
- Oncology qualification and 5+ years’ Oncology/Haematology experience
- Management qualification (essential)
- Compliance with SANC Code of Practice and all applicable healthcare legislation
- Intermediate computer proficiency
- Preferred:
- 2+ years’ management experience in a private hospital
- Experience in clinical leadership
- Strong financial acumen and ability to interpret clinical and operational data
