Key Accounts Manager – Consumer (Retail / FMCG)
Location: Parktown, Jhb

Main purpose:
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key customers (corporates, wholesalers, buying groups) to ensure long-term business growth and success.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
 
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, life sciences, business administration, or related field.
 
Experience
  • 2-3 Years proven experience in KAM, preferably in a relevant industry.
 
Key Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Skilled in analyzing sales data and market trends.
  • Proficient in negotiation techniques.
  • Ability to adjust to market changes and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office for reporting and analysis.
  • Fully billingual in English & Afrikaans (non-negotiable)

Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
  • May require overtime work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Client Relationship Management
  • Establish and maintain strong, long-term connections with major clients (new & existing).
  • Serve as the main contact, ensuring an understanding of client needs.
 
Account Strategy & Planning
  • Develop tailored account plans with objectives and strategies to drive growth and retention.
  • Align account strategies with business goals through collaboration with internal teams.
 
Business Development
  • Identify growth opportunities with existing and new key accounts.
  • Negotiate product inclusions to expand business within customer portfolios.
 
Customer Service Excellence
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction, addressing issues promptly.
  • Advocate for clients to meet their needs effectively.
 
Inventory & Merchandising Management
Analyze sales and market trends to forecast and manage stock levels at wholesalers.
Ensure products are well-merchandised at retail locations.
 
Negotiation & Contract Management
  • Negotiate and document terms and pricing agreements.
  • Ensure adherence to contract terms by all parties.
 
Internal Collaboration
  • Partner with sales, marketing, and operations teams to provide cohesive solutions to key accounts.
 
Risk Mitigation
  • Identify potential risks to account relationships, such as competitive threats or changing client priorities.
  • Implement strategies to mitigate these risks.
